Trigon from the city of Karlsruhe, Germany, a more than energetic unit which is able to improvise in their sleep, celebrating an orgiastic combination of swinging drumming (Rudi Metzler), pulsating bass (Stefan Lange) and Rainer Lange's psychedelic guitar towering above everything. Rough and wild and loud and electric, sometimes even sombre: Trigon concentrate music to its core which they themselves call "HeavyZenJazz", but they don't care about rigid genre boundaries: humor, spontaneity and irrisitible, playful charme are the trademarks of the dynamic trio.
First album by the German trio since 2018 and to call this a comeback of epic proportions is a bit like saying Notre Dame is a bit of a decent building.
This thing smokes.......smoulders.......burns.....flares......fires up.....and is the best of its kind in years.
Imagine a blend of Mahavishnu Orchestra and early Guru Guru and you might get something like Trigon. I could blissfully listen to these guys jam all day long.
Musikalisch hat sich am grundsätzlichen Pfad der Lange Brothers nichts geändert - jottlob. Immer noch wird so knochentrockenen lässig und überlegen gejammed, dass kaum ein Vergleich zu passen scheint: vielleicht die besseren Colour Haze, aber ohne Gesang? Oder eine stoner-bluesiger und gleichzeitig "gesanglicher" spielende Version vom Improvisationskollektiv Knall? Denn ungemein melodisch ist und bleibt das immer. Und ist dabei möglicherweise sogar Programm-Musik, jedenfalls könnte man die oft recht humorvollen Titel der Jams wie "Das Ryker Manöver" so auslegen!

Schon der erste Titel, "Pulsar" kündete mit sattem Donnern von dem, was dann eine gute Stunde lang den Raum und die Gehörgänge füllen sollte: saftige Trommelsalven aus allen Töpfen, fingerfertige Klang-Experimente auf der Gitarre, alles unterlegt mit cremigen Bassläufen - was brauchte man mehr zum Stampfen und Headbangen bei den knackigen Stücken oder bei Titeln wie "Zensation", um sich in andere Sphären emportragen zu lassen? Nix! War alles da und roch schon mal unverschämt gut nach Open-Air in Sommernächten.
2011 heißt das aktuelle Album, auf dem es viel zu entdecken gibt, wie etwa die beeindruckend spacigen Effekt-geladenen Sounds von Gitarre und Bass. Abgefahren!
Wer Trigon noch nicht kennt, sollte das schleunigst nachholen. Sie gehören für mich zur Crème de la Crème der anspruchsvollen deutschen Musiklandschaft.

Dies ist die ultimative Trigon-Scheibe. Das hier ist Krach, brachial, Gewalt, Wahnsinn, sogar Kunst, sogar Jazz manchmal. Ein Quantensprung für die Band und das absolute Highlight in der Discographie.
Suffice it to say, this is an exciting set of hard rock/psych/prog/jazz instrumentals, and features some of the most intense playing and intricately structured music I' ve heard from Trigon yet. Lange is always an expressive lead guitarist, but on this set he exudes pure passion.
Trigon are highly adventurous and are not afraid of pushing beyond the conventions of classic rock or straight-edged progressive rock - this is far more interesting and stimulating.
If improvised guitar based instrumental music is your scene, Trigon is up there with the best. I'm not really shure why I am such a big fan of Trigon's music - it just gives me such an incredible feeling of time and space.
Trigon wurde ein wahres Klangerlebnis da hier wirklich experimentelle Musik mit riesigen Klangteppichen von der Bühne kam. Hier war eine Spielfreude und die Freude am Experimentieren in jedem Takt zu spüren.
Chaque morceau n'est que prétexte à des envolées cosmiques de guitares plus déjantées les unes que les autres, surfant les comètes tordues envoyées par un excellent batteur et un bassiste effacé sur scène mais plein d'idées. Divine surprise, TRIGON sauva la journée.
